Welcome

A message from our Headteacher

Stoke St Gregory Primary is a small rural school in the heart of Somerset. We are surrounded by beautiful countryside and are part of a diverse village community. We have three classes of mixed age ranges. Currently, EYFS with Year 1/2, Year 3/4, Year 5/6.

Our school is proud to be an academy and part of The Oak Partnership Trust

As a school, we believe that engaging learning experiences are crucial and that challenge within all areas of the curriculum is important too. At Stoke, we are a community of lifelong learners, adults and children alike. This approach for all in our school community results in our collective and individual growth as a part of our school, our wider community and our world.

Every child is an individual, with unique skills, interests and passions and we strive to help all in our school community to be the very best that they can be.

We will be continually evolving as we grow and learn from each other. Are we a finished product? No. Will we ever be? No. Will we strive for what is best for our children and our community? Yes. That is one thing we will continue to do.

About The School

Stoke St Gregory Church of England Primary School was founded in 1857 by the Reverend Watson Moor, then Vicar of the parish. It is now a co-educational day school for pupils aged 4-11.

There are currently 61 pupils on roll- our maximum pupil capacity is 77 pupils . Our school has Voluntary Controlled status, which means that the Church of England is represented on the Governing Body by three Foundation Governors, which includes the Ex-Officio. The School also has close links with the C of E Church and the Baptist Church in the village.

The school is an Academy school and is part of The Oak Partnership Trust. The Trust was formed in 2019 and is local partnership of primary and special schools.

Our Vision and Values

At Stoke St. Gregory Church of England Primary School we endeavour to provide good foundations for all children so that they may flourish in all that they do.

“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.”

(Matthew 5:14-16)

The Oak Partnership

The Oak Partnership Multi Academy Trust was formed on 1 January 2019. Its founder member schools are three primary schools (Blackbrook Community Primary School, Ruishton CofE Primary School and West Monkton CofE Primary School) and one all-through Special School (Selworthy Special School). All four schools were inspected by Ofsted in 2018 and were rated Good.

In total the trust accommodates over 1000 learners.

The region in which The Oak Partnership is located is at the heart of one of the biggest and fastest growing housing developments in the South West, located along the M5 corridor. There are pockets of high deprivation within these catchments and the Trust recognises challenge of encouraging aspiration amongst all within its community. It hopes to be a catalyst for higher standards and improved outcomes for all its learners, therefore enhancing life chances and social mobility throughout the region.
